iCloud Storage Purchase Fails to Fix User Issues
Apple India must pay a consumer Rs 45,500 in compensation after an iPhone 15 overheated and suffered continuous performance failures, according to a consumer commission ruling in Haryana. The case highlights ongoing local disputes over warranty fulfillment and device reliability for premium smartphone buyers in the region.
The consumer dispute began after a customer purchased an iPhone 15 and quickly encountered severe thermal issues. According to case details, the device suffered from persistent overheating that interfered with daily use. Despite attempts to resolve the hardware trouble through official channels, the performance failures continued unabated.
To combat ongoing connectivity and performance issues tied to the faulty hardware, the user took various troubleshooting steps. Records show the buyer even purchased iCloud storage space for Rs 75 per month starting on May 31, 2024, in an effort to manage data and back up files while troubleshooting. Representatives also advised the customer to change their mobile network provider, but the operational problems persisted.
Frustrated by the lack of an effective resolution or functional device replacement under product warranty terms, the consumer filed a formal complaint. The Haryana consumer commission reviewed the grievances regarding the iPhone 15 defects and Apple customer service responses. The panel ultimately ruled in favor of the buyer, ordering Apple India to pay Rs 45,500 to cover compensation and damages for the substandard product experience.
