IDF: Hezbollah Rockets Land Near UNIFIL Positions

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reported that approximately 165 rockets fired by Hezbollah have landed inside or adjacent to United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) positions in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military stated that these launches targeted Israel but fell near or within the posts maintained by the international peacekeeping force.

According to reports from The Jerusalem Post and The Times of Israel, the IDF identified these specific launches as part of Hezbollah’s ongoing operations in the region. The military indicated that Hezbollah has systematically utilized areas near UNIFIL positions to facilitate its rocket attacks against Israel.

IDF Operations and Counter-Strikes

In response to the barrages, the IDF has continued its operations against Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon. On March 31, 2026, the Israeli military dismantled a Hezbollah missile launch site in the southern region.

The IDF stated that the launchers at that specific site were used in a recent barrage against Israel. That particular attack resulted in injuries to three people, including a 6-year-old child.

Broader Regional Conflict

The reported rocket fire near UNIFIL posts occurs amidst a wider escalation of hostilities. Recent reports indicate that Hezbollah has increased its volume of fire toward northern Israel. During the Passover period, Iran and Hezbollah collectively fired more than 140 missiles and rockets at Israel.

The conflict has also extended to urban centers in Lebanon. Explosions have been reported in Beirut as Israel targeted various Hezbollah sites within the city.

These developments reflect a period of intense military activity, with the IDF focusing on the dismantling of missile launch capabilities to mitigate further attacks on Israeli civilians and infrastructure.
