Israeli forces killed six Hezbollah gunmen in the southern Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil on Friday, April 24, 2026, during an exchange of fire that occurred despite an ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces reported that soldiers from the Paratroopers Brigade identified the militants on a rooftop in Bint Jbeil and engaged them in a firefight, resulting in the deaths of two gunmen. Subsequently, the IDF conducted a strike on a building where the remaining militants were located, killing the other four. No Israeli soldiers were injured in the incident.
The IDF characterized the engagement as a “blatant violation of the ceasefire understandings by the Hezbollah terror organization,” asserting that the militants posed an immediate threat to Israeli forces stationed in southern Lebanon.
Bint Jbeil is situated within the Israeli-held security zone in southern Lebanon. According to the IDF, as the ceasefire took effect on April 17, several Hezbollah operatives remained in the town following prior fighting in which more than 100 militants were killed in recent weeks.
