Idyllic is a strong contender for upcoming summer sprint races. Kevin Gray, the trainer, is proud of her progress. She has gained nearly 20kg since last year and continues to perform well.

“She’s a front-running horse,” Gray said. “I don’t change her style.” He praised the young girl who works with Idyllic, acknowledging her skills in handling the horse.

Idyllic was initially passed in at the 2020 Karaka Yearling Sales. Breeder John Cameron retained her, and she has since won five races, earning just under $130,000 in prize money. She is the half-sister of the promising filly Romilly, who will race in the Listed The O’Leary’s Fillies Stakes at Wanganui.

ND3: ‌ You’ve also mentioned the young girl who ‍works ⁣with Idyllic. How crucial is her role ‌in the training process?

KG: Absolutely vital. She has a natural connection with Idyllic and knows how ⁣to handle her effectively. The bond ‌they share contributes significantly to⁣ Idyllic’s performance‍ and⁣ well-being. ⁢It’s not just about the⁢ trainer;‌ the whole team makes a difference.

ND3: Lastly, idyllic ‌has a half-sister, ⁤Romilly, who is also making ‌waves in ⁣the racing scene. Can you tell us about her?

KG: Yes, Romilly​ is another exciting prospect.She’s set to ‌race⁢ in the Listed The O’Leary’s Fillies Stakes at Wanganui. It’s marvelous to see the ⁢family connection and the potential both mares have in the ⁣racing world.
