If you call a colleague on holiday, you will be fined 1.5 million won… what company

An information technology (IT) company in India has been fined 1,200 dollars (about 1.5 million won) for contacting a colleague who is on vacation.

According to Bloomberg News on the 10th (local time), employees of ‘Dream 11’, a sports platform company based in Mumbai, India, must pay a fine of 100,000 rupees (about $1,200) to the company if are they contacting a colleague who is on holiday.

‘Dream 11’ forces employees to take a week off once a year. During this period, employees are prohibited from doing company work such as receiving emails, phone calls and messengers.

‘Dream 11’ co-founder Babbit Chess told CNBC, “Having a week of uninterrupted time is great for business.” I believe it will work,” he said.

“It helps us find out who we depend on,” he added. “This holiday system has proven its effectiveness.”

Regarding this, Bloomberg News reported, “As in the case of ‘Dream 11’, fines are impressive as they are a way for workers to enjoy a good rest.”
