IMF to Open First Spanish Office in Valencia

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) plans to establish its first Spanish office in Valencia, according to Valencian President Carlos Mazón. The proclamation followed discussions wiht representatives of the international agency,currently led by Kristalina Georgieva.
Mazón said the new delegation would operate as a “technological and advisory office.” He emphasized that this initiative highlights Valencia as a key location for major global entities and will stimulate economic and social advancement in the Valencian Community.
The IMF’s Valencia office is projected to generate between 50 and 100 jobs in its initial phase, according to the Valencian president. The meeting included the Minister of Economy and Finance,Ruth Merino,along with representatives from the Generalitat,the City of Valencia,and the Spanish government.
The IMF, headquartered in Washington, D.C., was founded following the Bretton Woods agreements at the close of World War II. Its mission is to foster a new global order where economic and trade relations serve to prevent future conflicts.
