Immerse Yourself in Pure Sound: Sony Unveils MDR-M1 Closed-Back Reference Monitoring Headphones
Sony Launches MDR-M1 Closed-Back Reference Monitoring Headphones
Sony has launched the MDR-M1, closed-back reference monitoring headphones that reproduce ultra-wideband, high-resolution sound.
Optimized for Stereo Recording and Mixing
The MDR-M1 is a reference headphone that can be used in all environments at all stages, including recording, mixing, and mastering of high-quality stereo sound sources. Sony’s studio monitoring headphones MDR-7506 have been the standard in the industry for the past 30 years. However, as high-resolution audio became more common and the demand for home studios to produce their own high-quality audio increased, the need for new professional headphones that responded to these changes emerged.
Sealed Acoustic Structure and Excellent Sound Insulation
The MDR-M1 is a product optimized for stereo recording and mixing with a sealed acoustic structure that suppresses two-way sound leakage. Excellent sound insulation helps you fully immerse yourself in your work while recording or mixing without being disturbed by noise coming from the headphones. It provides a uniform monitoring environment as if you were in a studio anytime, anywhere, allowing music producers and sound engineers to produce and enjoy music exactly as intended.
Ultra-Wide Frequency Reproduction and High-Level Sound
The MDR-M1 boasts ultra-wide frequency reproduction performance of 5Hz to 80kHz and high-level sound with minimal coloration through Sony’s proprietary HD driver unit and design through computer simulation. For professionals for whom the natural performance of monitoring headphones is important, recording and mixing are easy as even the slightest changes in sound are expressed in detail.
Ergonomic Design and Improved Wearing Comfort
The driver unit has an ergonomic design that is positioned inside the ear cup to match the angle of the ear. The distance from all areas of the driver to the ear is constant, delivering sound consistently and providing improved wearing comfort. In the case of closed-back headphones, the direction of sound is often not transmitted properly, but the MDR-M1 is excellent at expressing distance and sense of localization for recorded sound.
Lightweight and Durable Design
The MDR-M1 minimizes the weight of the headphones to reduce the burden of working for long periods of time. Each part has been reduced in weight down to the 0.1g unit, and its light weight of approximately 216g allows it to be worn comfortably even when working for long periods of time. The moving parts and various parts of the headphones are durable enough to withstand professional work environments.
Convenient and Replaceable Ear Pads
The ear pads are designed to fit a variety of head shapes based on Sony’s extensive head shape database, and are made of thick, low-elastic urethane foam material to provide less pressure and a softer fit. If it is used for a long time, the user can replace it themselves, allowing comfortable and hygienic use at any time.
Detachable Cable and Multiple Connection Options
The MDR-M1 comes with two lengths of headphone cable, 1.2m and 2.5m, so you can use it to suit your needs. Additionally, the standard terminal 3.5mm stereo mini plug can be connected to various equipment such as home studios, laptops, headphone amplifiers, etc., and the included 6.3mm stereo standard plug adapter can be used in pro audio devices and is connected with a screw lock to secure the cable.
