Impersonating a police officer tricked an old woman into transferring 15 billion VND

Believing the suspect pretending to be a police officer, Ms. P. transferred money 32 times with a total amount of 15 billion VND to them.

On the afternoon of May 7, Ha Dong District Police (Hanoi) said that the unit was investigating a case of impersonating a police officer and fraudulently appropriating 15 billion VND from an elderly woman.

The old woman transferred money 32 times to the fraudster.

On April 5, Ms. P (born 1956, in Ha Dong) received a phone call from someone claiming to be a police officer.

The subject said that her citizen identification card was related to a drug trafficking and money laundering network. If Ms. P. cannot prove that she is not involved, she will be arrested in a few days.

Too scared, Ms. P. transferred money to the subject’s account for verification. Ms. P. transferred money 32 times with a total amount of 15 billion VND. Afterwards, Mrs. P. knew she had been deceived so she reported it to the police.

From the above incident, Hanoi Police asked people to be vigilant, propagate to relatives and friends about the above tricks, and avoid falling into the traps of bad people.
