Written by Ali Shibl:

The days of goodness, blessings, and joys hastened, and two-thirds of the month of fasting, praying, and reading the Qur’an have passed, and only a few days and nights of its goodness remain of the last third and last ten days. Scientists have agreed that the last ten days of Ramadan are the best of it and its greatest nights, and it contains the greatest night in existence. It is the Night of Destiny, which God Almighty hid in the last ten days of the holy month.

It was reported from the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, that he used to devote the last ten days of Ramadan to tasks that he would not perform during the rest of the month, and among these works: reviving the night. In the hadith of Aisha – may God be pleased with her – she said: “The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, used to mix the twenty with prayer.” And he slept, and when the tenth day – meaning the last – came, he rolled up and pulled the apron.” Narrated by Ahmad.

Scholars have confirmed that among the best good deeds in the last ten nights are Tahajjud and praying the night prayers and dhikr, including the Tasbih prayer, which sheikhs advise performing in the last ten nights, especially on odd-numbered nights, as it expiates sins and relieves distress, and the Fatwa House says it is a Sunnah from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.

On the night of Ramadan 27, 2024, which begins with the sunset call to prayer today, Friday, and ends with the dawn call to prayer tomorrow, Saturday, Masrawy reveals the ruling on the Tasbih prayer and how to perform it, according to the opinion of the main Fatwa and Fatwa Committees at Al-Azhar:

Ruling on praying praises

Many scholars considered the Tasbeeh prayer to be a form of voluntary prayer that has a specific method, and it was called that because of the abundance of praise that is requested in it.
It is a legitimate prayer on the one hand that is recommended, according to what the majority of jurists have said, and it is what Imam Ahmad said: Since he retracted the claim that it was weak; Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar also cited it, and an authentic hadith was reported in it, narrated through the narrations of more than ten of the Companions, such as Al-Abbas, his two sons Abdullah and Al-Fadl, Ali bin Abi Talib, Jaafar bin Abi Talib, his son Abdullah, Umm Salamah, Ibn Omar, Abu Rafi’, and Ibn Amr, and Omar, the servant of Ghafra, may God be pleased with them.

How to do it in 10 steps

As for its method, it was mentioned in a hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, on the authority of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, to Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib, may God be pleased with him, and it is what Dar Al-Iftaa summarized in 10 simplified steps that came as follows:

1- You pray four rak’ahs (that is, with one salutation) without an intermediate tashahhud.

2- In each of the four rak’ahs of the Tasbih prayer, the opening of the book and the surah “Which surah you choose” are recited.
3- Immediately after reading and before bowing, say these tasbihahs while standing: “Glory be to God + Praise be to God + There is no god but God + God is great” 15 times.

4- Then she kneels, and after the usual bowing praise, she says, “Glory be to God + Praise be to God + There is no god but God + God is great” 10 times.
5- Then you raise your head from bowing, saying: God hears those who praise Him… etc. Then you say, “Glory be to God + Praise be to God + There is no god but God + God is great” 10 times.
6- Then you fall into prostration, and after the usual glorification of prostration, you say, “Glory be to God + Praise be to God + There is no god but God + God is great” 10 times.
7- Then you raise your head from the prostration between the two prostrations after the usual supplication and say, “Glory be to God + Praise be to God + There is no god but God + God is great” 10 times.

8- Then you prostrate, and after the usual praises of prostration, you say, “Glory be to God + Praise be to God + There is no god but God + God is great” 10 times.

9- Then you raise your head from prostration, sit cross-legged, take a light break between prostration and standing, and say, “Glory be to God + Praise be to God + There is no god but God + God is Great” 10 times, so that is 75 times in each rak’ah.

10- You do this 4 times, that is, in the four rak’ahs, so it will be 300 tasbihs, and this is the method of praying tasbihs.
