In the Min Hee-jin incident… New Jeans ‘Bubblegum’, 6.5 million views and outpouring of support in 17 hours

[조이뉴스24 박진영 기자] Amid the deepening conflict between Hive and Adore CEO Min Hee-jin, the music video for New Jeans’ new song ‘Bubble Gum’, which is about to make a comeback, has surpassed 6.5 million views in less than a day since its release.

New Jeans (Minzy, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, Hyein) posted the music video for ‘Bubble Gum’ on the Hive Labels YouTube channel at midnight on the 27th. ‘Bubble Gum’ is one of the songs included in the new double single ‘How Sweet’, which will be officially released on the 24th of next month.

The music video for ‘Bubble Gum’ begins with Hyein’s flawless face saying, “Today I’ll teach you how to make soap bubbles.” Soon the video tape starts playing, and the vague emotional beauty of the video, as if it was filmed with a camcorder, evokes a strange sense of analog nostalgia.

The members are bright and bright. They have fun making bets to see who can blow bubble gum bigger, or playing pranks on each other with soap bubbles, balloons, and glass beads. Also, against the background of a refreshing beach, a green pasture, and a camping car on an early summer night, they run around with their hair flowing, dance, laugh, and talk. From beginning to end, New Jeans’ harmless naturalness was fully captured in the music video.

The ‘Bubble Gum’ music video exceeded 4 million views on YouTube within 10 hours of its release, and exceeded 6.5 million views at 5 p.m. In particular, the video comment section is receiving enthusiastic responses and support from global listeners and domestic fans. The number of comments exceeded 50,000, and it ranked first among the trending songs.

New Jeans is making a comeback as planned despite a dispute between producer Min Hee-jin, CEO of label Adore, and agency Hive. Previously, Hive raised suspicions of theft of management rights by CEO Min Hee-jin and two vice-presidents. However, CEO Min immediately denied this and refuted that the incident originated from the New Jeans copy incident of Aillet, a girl group from Belif Lab, another label under Hive.

Hive later announced the results of an interim audit, confirming the specific facts that a plan to seize management rights was established led by CEO Min, and saying that it had secured physical evidence. Representative Min held an emergency press conference on the 25th and denied all allegations, while also revealing that he had been discriminated against and treated unfairly by Hive. However, Hive refuted all of CEO Min’s revelations through a long statement on the 26th, and submitted a complaint to the Yongsan Police Station accusing CEO Min and others of breach of trust.
