In this part of Mexico, baptismal godparents are no longer necessary

Baptism in the Catholic religion marks the beginning of the profession of faith, which is why it becomes one of the most important sacraments.. That is, when a person is baptized, he becomes son or daughter of God and therefore forms part of the Church.

Traditionally, the Catholic baptism is carried out when the person is very young and the protagonist, his parents and the godparents, support figures who will serve as spiritual guides to accompany the baptized person on a good path, under a lifelong commitment.

This model has been done this way for a long time, at least in Mexico, but Now there is the possibility of being baptized without the need to have godparents.

“If we look at the origin of the institution of godparents in history, we deduce that the reasons for its existence were basically practical, since, in the early days of the Church, those who wanted to convert were presented to the priests by a well-known Christian. “they point out.
