Increased risk of AI outbreaks in some cities and counties in Jeollanam-do Expanding the culling range

The Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (AI) Central Accident Management Headquarters announced on the 5th that it will expand the scope of preventive killing as the risk of highly pathogenic AI outbreaks has increased in some cities and counties in Jeollanam-do.

Considering the risk, such as the recently confirmed cases in Naju-si, Jeollanam-do, the heavy water headquarters changed the scope of killing in Naju-si and Yeongam-gun to ‘Additional killing of ducks within 500m to 2km in case of there will be poultry and duck species within 500m’.

This time, the modified kill range will be applied until the 17th of this month.

The heavy water headquarters will also push for a ‘special quarantine strengthening plan’ in the Jeonnam region.

Additional quarantine vehicles and water cannons will be used in areas with highly pathogenic AI outbreaks to intensively disinfect areas around migratory bird habitats such as Yeongam Lake and Yeongsan River, as well as access roads to nearby farms.

Until the 20th, related agencies will check the disinfection status of poultry farms every day.

In addition, additional control posts will be installed at the entrances to meat duck farms in Naju and Yeongam-gun.

For poultry farms in Hampyeong and Muan-gun, quarantine control corresponding to high-risk areas is applied.

For meat duck farms, close inspections will be strengthened, and all poultry will be inspected every 7 days until quarantine units are erected.
