Increasing the number of DRS: Critical changes in the IPL

Two new rules will be implemented in this year’s IPL. Teams will now have two chances to reconsider the umpire’s decision. Earlier there was only one DRS. The technical committee will decide whether to reschedule any match if it is postponed due to a team’s Kovid plague. If the match cannot be rescheduled the opposing team will get points.

The new MCC rules on changing the strike will also be introduced in the IPL. One of the new rules is that even if the striker completes the run at the time the fielder is caught, the newcomer batter must strike. If they fail to complete the Super Over in the playoffs and final, the team that advances to the league stage will be declared the winner. The changes are expected to be announced by the BCCI soon.

The IPL matches will be played in Mumbai and Pune. A total of 70 league matches and four playoff matches will be played over 65 days. IPL season 15 starts with the Chennai Super Kings Kolkata Knight Riders match on March 26 at Wankhede Stadium. There will be two matches on March 27. Mumbai Indians-Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings-Royal Challengers Bangalore will play on Sunday.
