Mohali: India-Afghanistan T20 series starts today. at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali
The game is at 7pm. This is India’s last T20 series before the World Cup. Rohit Sharma is leading the Indian team. Malayalee player Sanju Samson may be included in the team.
Superstar Virat Kohli will not play today as it is his daughter’s birthday. In Kohli’s absence, Rohit Sharma and Yashaswi Jaiswal will open the innings. Kohli will return for the remaining two matches of the three-match series in Indore and Bengaluru.
Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Ishan Kishan are not in the team. Although Jitesh Sharma is in the team as wicketkeeper, Malayalee player Sanju Samson is likely to make the XI.
The series against Afghanistan is also an opportunity for Tilak Verma and Rinku Singh to confirm their place in the World Cup squad. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj have been rested so Arshdeep, Josht Khan and Mukesh Kumar are in the front row. The spinners are Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav.
