India Defeats Pakistan to Become Group Champions in Asian Champions Trophy Hockey

In a thrilling match held in Chennai, India emerged victorious against their arch-rivals Pakistan, securing a spot as group champions in the semi-finals of the Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament. The first goal came in the 15th minute of the first quarter, where Harmanpreet converted a penalty kick. He continued his stellar performance in the 24th minute of the second quarter, again finding the back of the net from a penalty kick.

A third goal was brilliantly executed by Jugraj Singh in the 36th minute of the third quarter, sealing India’s dominance in the match. The final blow was delivered by Akashdeep Singh in the 55th minute of the fourth quarter, widening the gap and securing a commanding 4-0 lead against Pakistan.

Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh showcased his exceptional talent as he entered the field in the last quarter, ensuring the Pakistani attackers were kept at bay. India’s victory against Pakistan not only propels them to the semi-finals but also cements their position as group champions, having accumulated an impressive 13 points from five games in the round-robin stage.

Pakistan, on the other hand, had a disappointing campaign, only managing to secure a solitary victory against China. With their defeat against India, they finished at the bottom of the group, a result that will undoubtedly leave them with much to ponder.

Chennai: In the Asian Champions Trophy hockey, India defeated Pakistan and became the group champions in the semi-finals. In the match held in Chennai, India defeated their neighbors by four uncontested goals (4-0). With the loss, Pakistan were eliminated from the semi-finals.

India took a two-goal lead in the first half of the match at the Mayor Radhakrishna Stadium. Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored India’s first goal from a penalty kick in the 15th minute of the first quarter. Harman netted for the second time in the 24th minute of the second quarter. This goal also came from a penalty kick. Jugraj Singh made it 3-0 in the 36th minute of the third quarter. This time too, the net moved through the penalty corner. In the fourth quarter, India took a 4-0 lead against Pakistan through Akashdeep Singh in the 55th minute. Malayali goalkeeper PR Sreejesh entered the field in the last quarter.

With the win against Pakistan, India reached the semi-finals as group champions with 13 points from five games. India managed to secure four wins and one draw in the round-robin. Meanwhile, Pakistan could only win the tournament against China. Pakistan finished fifth in the group.
