Match Outcome and Suryakumar yadav’s Statement
India defeated Pakistan in the cricket match.Following the win, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the victory to India’s armed forces, praising their bravery. He described the win as a “perfect return gift to India” according to ESPN Cricinfo.
Yadav also expressed solidarity with the victims and families affected by a recent terror attack, stating, “We stand by with the victims and families of the terror attack and express our solidarity.”
Lack of Handshakes and Pakistani Response
The post-match presentation was marked by a notable absence of handshakes between the teams. According to reports, the Indian team began heading to the changing room before the customary handshake could occur. Pakistan’s Agha, the captain, did not speak at the presentation.
Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur explained that Agha’s decision not to address the presentation was a direct result of the Indian team’s departure before handshakes could take place. Arthur stated, “We sort of went over there to shake hands and they were already going to the changing room,” as reported by the Hindustan Times. He described the situation as “a disappointing way for the match to finish.”
Arthur further indicated that the Pakistani team was prepared to engage in the traditional handshake, despite being disappointed with their own performance in the match.
india’s Perspective on the Lack of Handshakes
Suryakumar Yadav indicated that the Indian team’s actions were in response to a perceived lack of reciprocation from the Pakistani side. He stated, “We were disappointed that our opposition didn’t do that,” suggesting a prior expectation of a gesture from Pakistan.
