India Vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI green field stadium India Sri Lanka one day match ticket edition | India Vs Sri Lanka: Is the minister’s statement a villain? Will the game be in a deserted gallery? Ticket sales go haywire

Thiruvananthapuram: Ticket sales remain a concern as Thiruvananthapuram’s Greenfield Stadium gears up for the third India-Sri Lanka ODI. With just an hour after the game kicks off, there is no increase in ticket sales. So far, less than 7,000 tickets have been sold. It remains to be seen whether this will affect the atmosphere of the competition. What are the reasons why people don’t come to the stadium? Let’s check some things.

1) Sports Minister V. Abdul Rahman’s statement cannot be dismissed lightly. The statement ‘Hungry people should not come to watch the game’ has caused so much anger among the people. The minister’s statement went viral on social media. There were strong criticisms against the minister from different quarters. It is believed that this caused a large part of the population to withdraw from watching the game.

2) There is a section which argues that today’s audience does not have the time and patience to watch the ODI format because of the 20-20 buzz and the short-lived 20-20 of children’s cricket. Comparing the viewership of a 20-20 match with the viewership of an ODI match shows that this is true. One has to wonder if the fans have lost interest in spending eight hours in the stadium.

3) Ticket prices are a major reason for the drop in attendance at games. A fair question is being raised on social media as to why only Thiruvananthapuram charges such a high ticket price when in other stadiums the ticket price is half that of Greenfield. Higher ticket prices are also one of the reasons that prevent people from watching the game.
