Indian delegation visits Afghanistan; First after the Taliban came to power | Taliban

New Delhi: An Indian delegation has visited Kabul for the first time since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan last year. Indian diplomats in Kabul have left Afghanistan since the Taliban seized power in August 2021, ousting the Afghan government. This is the first visit of an Indian delegation to Afghanistan since then.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Arindam Bakshi said India and Afghanistan have historic ties. India’s decision is to continue that relationship. On August 15, India fired its employees due to security concerns. But also retained local employees. He also confirmed that the Indian delegation would visit senior Taliban leaders.

He said India’s assistance to the Afghan people would be discussed. The Indian delegation will visit projects in progress with Indian assistance.

Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Amir Khan Mottaki called for the resumption of all operations suspended by India in Afghanistan. The Taliban said India’s cooperation in trade was also needed.
