IndiGo Bans⁢ Passenger After Unprovoked slap Incident; assaulted man reported Missing

New Delhi: In a stern move to uphold safety and decorum onboard its ⁣flights, IndiGo has suspended a passenger from flying on any of its services following an incident where he ‍allegedly slapped a co-flier without provocation. The airline reiterated its commitment to a safe and respectful environment for all passengers and crew.

The Incident and Viral Video

The shocking event⁣ unfolded on‍ an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Kolkata. According to reports, the accused passenger approached Hossain Ahmed Mazumdar, who was being escorted‍ to his seat by flight attendants, and slapped him without any apparent reason. A video capturing the assault quickly went viral on ⁢social media, drawing widespread condemnation.

IndiGo, in a statement, emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for unruly behavior. “In line with our commitment to discourage such unruly⁤ behavior onboard flights, the⁢ individual has been suspended from flying on any IndiGo flights, in accordance ⁤with regulatory provisions,” the airline stated. They further highlighted their priority: “The airline said it prioritises the safety of⁢ its crew and passengers, and is ‘committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and comfortable environment for all onboard’.”

Passenger Reported Missing

Adding a disturbing twist to the already unsettling incident, Hossain ahmed Mazumdar, the passenger who was slapped, has since been reported missing. Mazumdar was reportedly ‍scheduled to travel⁣ from Kolkata to Silchar but never arrived at his destination.”When we didn’t find him on the Silchar flight, we contacted the local authorities and even went to⁤ Udharband police station near the Silchar airport,”⁣ a relative‍ of Mazumdar was quoted as saying by Times of India.

Family members who were awaiting Mazumdar’s arrival at Silchar airport have appealed to the authorities to intensify the search for him‍ and to release any available CCTV footage that could aid in tracing his whereabouts. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, leaving his family in distress and seeking answers.

The incident underscores the challenges airlines face in managing passenger conduct and‍ the potential ripple effects of onboard altercations, especially when they involve the safety and well-being of individuals beyond the immediate flight.
