Earlier on July 9, an IndiGo flight, 6E 5009, en route from Patna to Delhi, had to turn back mid-air and return to Patna due to a bird strike. The airline’s spokesperson confirmed the incident,stating that the flight was cancelled for the day to allow for necessary maintainance and inspection of the aircraft.

The IndiGo spokesperson assured that passengers affected by the cancellation were offered refreshments, a full refund, or alternative travel arrangements.”We are doing our best to minimise inconvenience to our customers, including offering them refreshments, a full refund on cancellation and/or making alternate arrangements for their travel. The inconvenience caused due to this unforeseen situation is deeply regretted. Safety and security of our customers and crew remains our topmost priority,” the spokesperson stated.
Delhi Airport Grapples with Five Flight Diversions Due to Bad Weather
The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi witnessed at least five flight diversions on Wednesday afternoon due to severe weather conditions. An official reported that two IndiGo flights and two Air India flights were diverted to Jaipur, while one Air India flight was rerouted to Amritsar.

Air India had alerted passengers via X (formerly Twitter) at 1:44 pm, stating that gusty winds and rain were impacting flight operations in Delhi. IndiGo also posted on X at 2:17 pm,advising passengers that while their operations were on schedule for the moment,weather-related delays could be anticipated later in the day due to heavy rains forecast across the capital.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport,the country’s largest,handles approximately 1,300 flight movements daily,making it susceptible to significant disruptions during adverse weather events.
