Indonesian infants can now receive their birth certificates immediately after birth through a digital integration system linking health data and population administration, according to government announcements made on August 11, 2026. The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Health rolled out the initiative at the Pasar Minggu Community Health Center in South Jakarta to streamline public services and curb bureaucratic hurdles.

Integrating SatuSehat and SIAK for Instant Issuance

The new procedure connects the Ministry of Health’s SatuSehat platform directly with the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration system, known as SIAK. Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian stated during the launch that the automated linkage allows civil registry databases to capture birth details the moment a child is born in a medical facility. Parents no longer need to visit multiple government offices manually to secure the documentation, according to details provided by iNews.id.

Beyond convenience, the automated issuance system aims to eliminate illicit charges during document processing. By shifting the process to an automated digital workflow triggered inside health facilities, the government removes human discretion from standard birth registration. The system transmits the digital birth certificate directly, ensuring parents receive the official identifier without navigating separate administrative checkpoints.

Digital Delivery and Child Protection Needs

The Ministry of Home Affairs also prepares to dispatch the digital files directly to email addresses registered by parents during the maternity process, as outlined by Popmama.com. Birth certificates serve as mandatory legal identities required for subsequent administrative tasks, school enrollments, and access to public welfare programs.

Securing official documentation immediately addresses broader vulnerabilities facing unregistered children across the country.
