A mother’s Dreams shattered: Arizona Woman Killed in Road rage Shooting
Glendale, Arizona – A 27-year-old Arizona woman, Yarely Ashley Hermosillo, a rising social media creator, was tragically killed in a senseless act of violence on Friday night. Hermosillo, who had 144,000 followers on Instagram where she shared cooking content, was a passenger in a vehicle when she was struck by gunfire. Police say she was not the intended target.
The shooting occurred around 11:45 p.m. on eastbound Camelback Road. According to glendale police, an argument erupted between drivers of two vehicles, and a man in a GMC pickup, identified as Jesus Preciado dousten, 33, allegedly fired a shot in a random direction. The bullet struck Hermosillo in the right eye, and she was pronounced dead at 1 a.m.Saturday.
“She was full of dreams, plans and goals for her future – all of which were taken from her in such a cruel and senseless way,” said her sister,Cryshan Lopez, tearfully at a news conference Wednesday. Hermosillo was also a mother to a 3-year-old son.
Witnesses reported that Dousten appeared intoxicated at the scene. He has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons, and endangerment. Court records show Dousten has a history of run-ins with the law, including a road-rage incident in Phoenix in June where he allegedly punched another driver, and also convictions for attempted theft of a vehicle (2016 and 2024), unlawful flight from law enforcement (2022), and resisting arrest and criminal trespass (2022).
Dousten is currently being held on $1 million bail. Police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting, stating that the initial exchange between the drivers was a “brief verbal argument.”
This tragedy underscores the devastating consequences of road rage and the importance of de-escalating conflict. The loss of Yarely Hermosillo, a young mother and burgeoning content creator, is a heartbreaking reminder of the fragility of life and the senselessness of gun violence.
