Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw’s hopes of making a comeback to the national team after a successful stint in the county circuit have been dashed by an unfortunate injury. Shaw, who plays for Northamptonshire, sustained a knee injury during a match against Durham.

As a result, Shaw will require a three-month rest period, ruling him out of the first leg of the upcoming 2023-24 domestic cricket season, including the prestigious Iran Trophy. Additionally, he will be unable to participate in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 match.

Upon seeking medical advice from a surgeon in London, Shaw became aware of the severity of his injury. Subsequently, he returned to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, where specialist doctors are closely monitoring his progress. The need for surgery has yet to be determined.

In the previous season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Shaw represented the Delhi Capitals but struggled to find his form, managing just 106 runs in eight matches. Seeking to regain his confidence, Shaw embarked on a stint in England’s county circuit.

The talented batsman performed exceptionally well, registering a double century in the county one-day championship and amassing a total of 429 runs until his untimely injury halted his progress. His impressive form saw him score 144 runs off 153 balls against Somerset and also achieve a century in four innings.
