Inner Mongolia’s Blind Judoka Wang Yue Wins Gold and Meng Yan Wins Bronze at Hangzhou Para Asian Games

Inner Mongolia’s blind judoka, Wang Yue, showcased outstanding skills and determination at the Hangzhou Para Asian Games, representing the Chinese team. In a remarkable display of talent, Wang Yue secured the gold medal in the women’s -70kg J2 blind judo event. Additionally, fellow athlete Meng Yan achieved a well-deserved bronze medal in the women’s +70kg blind judo J1 event.

Hailing from Linhe in Bayannur City, Wang Yue’s journey to success has been marked by resilience. Born in 1997 with congenital fundus lesions that caused visual impairment, she embarked on her judo training after completing primary school. Regarded as a seasoned member of the blind judo team, Wang Yue has consistently excelled in various competitions. Notably, she garnered a bronze medal in blind judo at the Tokyo Paralympic Games and has accumulated numerous national accolades, including victories in the Judo Championships and the World Blind Judo Grand Prix. These accomplishments further underscore Wang Yue’s formidable strength and ability.

Meng Yan, born in 2002, had her introduction to blind judo training in 2017. Despite her relatively short training period of six years as a young member of the blind judo team, Meng Yan has exhibited tremendous potential and achieved commendable results across different tournaments. In fact, her remarkable performance earned her a spot on the national team alongside her teammate Wang Yue, following their selection in March of this year. Notably, Meng Yan secured fifth place in the over 70 kilograms category at the Azerbaijan World Blind Judo Grand Prix held on September 26, 2021.

The accomplishments of Wang Yue and Meng Yan not only demonstrate their remarkable sporting abilities but also serve as an inspiration to athletes across the globe. Meng Yan was born in 2002 and came into contact with blind judo training in 2017. As a young player on the blind judo team, she has just received 6 years of training and has achieved good results in various competitions. In March this year, she and ‘her teammate Wang Selected for the national team. On September 26 this year, he won fifth place over 70 kilograms at the Azerbaijan World Blind Judo Grand Prix.
