Insights from the Seoul International Production and Manufacturing Technology Exhibition 2024 – Shaping the Future of Manufacturing

The Seoul International Production and Manufacturing Technology Exhibition opens in April, recruiting 100,000 visitors from 35 countries, 1,300 booths

Comprehensive production and manufacturing solutions from traditional manufacturing to digital manufacturing

“The business market…you will be able to get a glimpse of new conceptual ideas in the field of production and manufacturing.”

The manufacturing area acts as a bridgehead connecting different elements around the world. This is a trend-sensitive area, and the digital transformation (DX) movement is expanding rapidly in this global manufacturing industry. Technologies that include elements of digitization, intelligence and wisdom are being applied one after the other to areas that focus on traditional manufacturing processes.

Meanwhile, the vision of the manufacturing industry is to reduce the gap between traditional manufacturing processes and new manufacturing processes resulting from digital transformation and to achieve harmony in the processes. The 20th Seoul International Manufacturing Technology Exhibition (SIMTOS 2024), which looks at response measures and insights into the changing aspects of the manufacturing industry, will open for four days from April 1.

This exhibition, held at KINTEX, an exhibition hall in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, is hosted by the Korea Machine Tool Industry Association and includes 5 specialty halls, 1 special exhibition, and 24 side events to present a reference to the manufacturing industry. SIMTOS 2024 covers full-cycle technologies in the manufacturing field, including machine tools, materials, parts, and equipment, control systems, processing and measurement solutions, robots, and smart solutions.

Park Jae-hoon, full-time vice president of the Korea Machine Tool Industry Association, said at the ‘SIMTOS 2024 Preview’ event held on the 23rd of this month, “SIMTOS is a business market place where companies that take part and visitors communicate face-to-face,” and added, “The event will be held with 6,170 booths from 1,300 companies from 35 countries. “We will be able to get an insight into global technology trends and open up new avenues for business.”

SIMTOS 2024 was designed to expand its scope from machine tools to production and manufacturing technology. The specialist halls were divided into ‘Metal Cutting and Mold Technology Hall’, ‘Component Technology and Materials Management Hall’, ‘Tool and Measurement Technology Hall’, ‘Cutting and Welding Technology Hall’, and ‘Pressing and Forming Technology Hall’.

In addition, the ‘Special Exhibition of Robotics and Digital Manufacturing Technology’ is attempted for the first time at this year’s exhibition and includes 3D printing, smart solutions, collaborative robots, etc. This new special exhibition consists of four themed halls and five zones, including ‘AI Factory’, ‘Robot-Equipment’, ‘CNC System’, and ‘Die Casting’. In particular, the AI Factory themed pavilion will showcase cutting processing data connectivity and data information technology, providing tips for realizing autonomous manufacturing in metal processing.

Park Jae-hyun, team leader of the Korea Machine Tool Industry Association, said, “It is an exhibition that provides an overview of changes in the market for production technology, from processing equipment to digital manufacturing solutions.” He added, “In particular, the special exhibition organized for the first time allows the expansion of items of interest, improving the ease of attendance “Foreign companies have a higher participation rate than domestic companies, so they can expand sales channels and create new value ,” he emphasized.

SIMTOS 2024 will also host various side events such as ‘Global Digital Manufacturing Innovation Conference’, ‘Open Stage Seminar’, ‘Digital Manufacturing Technology Theme Hall’, ‘SIM Square’, ‘Technical Guide Tour’, ‘Stamp Tour’, and ‘Award Event’. Among these, various conferences held in this exhibition will feature experts as speakers on 13 topics in 8 fields, including additive manufacturing, die casting, digital manufacturing, injection molding, and steel structure, and provide innovative points.

Meanwhile, at the SIMTOS 2024 preview on this day, manufacturing technology companies such as DN Solutions, SMEC, Hyundai Wia, Hwacheon Machinery, Trump Korea, Amada Korea, and InterX presented products and solutions that will be displayed at SIMTOS 2024.
