On September 20, the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) in Nonthaburi Province revealed the arrest of Detective Inspector Khok Samrong of the Provincial Police Station. The arrest was made by NACC officers, together with police officers from the Anti-Corruption Department and Misconduct, under the direction of NACC Secretary General Niwatchai Kasemongkol. The investigation was led by Mr Sornchai Chuwichian, Assistant Secretary General of NACC, and Mr Phisit Pattanakijjamroon, Director of the Office of Investigation and Special Affairs.

The arrest was made in connection with a case involving the collection of 100,000 baht from a victim. It is alleged that Inspector Khok Samrong had already received 50,000 baht from the victim and had scheduled a meeting to receive the remaining 50,000 baht on September 20. The money was reportedly demanded in exchange for the victim not facing charges or prosecution.

During the scheduled meeting, the cash amount of 50,000 baht, which had been recorded in the daily record, was examined by officers and handed over to the victim to be delivered to Inspector Khok Samrong. However, upon receiving the money, Inspector Khok Samrong was confronted by officers posing as members of the Narcotics Control Board. They requested an audit and inquired about the previously transferred money. Upon examination, it was discovered that the cash found in his possession had the same banknote number as the distributed money recorded as evidence by the victim. This evidence ultimately led to his arrest.

Following the arrest, Inspector Khok Samrong was taken to the Khok Samrong Provincial Police Station and charged with the crime of acting illegally or neglecting his duties, in accordance with NACC Section 171 Emergency Decree. Legal proceedings will now be initiated against him.
