Instagram Expands Hidden Words Feature to Combat Spam and Unwanted Content

Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced in Threads that the company is expanding its spam filtering system. To cover more areas within the app than before.

The feature is called “Hidden Words” and originally only filtered messages sent to the user. Users can filter out words or phrases they don’t want to appear in the reply box. But starting today, Hidden Words will also extend to feeds, search, profiles, and other post response fields.

For Hidden Words, filter out posts that users don’t want to see. Simply add a word, phrase, or even an emoji to the list and the app will hide posts containing those words. which in addition to creating the list itself Users can also allow the app to automatically filter certain words. You can disable this feature from settings.

Mosseri also revealed that the company is working on additional security tools, such as choosing who can quote users’ posts. This reduces annoyances and unwanted threats. And users can also turn off notifications on posts they make. You will still receive notifications except for selected posts.

As for the Hidden Words feature, it has been extended to all users. Other features are in testing and may only be available to certain users.
