Introducing the Digi ConnectCore MP25: A Wireless, Energy-Efficient Solution for Next-Generation Computer Vision Applications

Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII), a provider of Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity products and services, recently announced the wireless, energy-efficient Digi ConnectCore MP25 system on module (SOM). Featuring AI and machine learning capabilities with an integrated neural processing unit and image signal processor, Digi ConnectCore MP25 is designed for next-generation computer vision applications in critical industries such as industrial, medical, energy and transport. This module provides reliable wireless connectivity and time-sensitive networking (TSN), making it ideal for smart portable devices and Industry 4.0.

Based on STMicroelectronics’ STM32MP25 MPU processor, Digi ConnectCore MP25 is designed to simplify application development based on stringent requirements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, drive innovation and increase end-customer satisfaction.

“The STM32MP25 MPU is an industrial-grade 64-bit MPU for secure Industry 4.0 and advanced edge computing applications requiring high-end multimedia capabilities. Digi, a member of the ST Partner program, is actively collaborating with STMicroelectronics. They have integrated this high high-performance processor in the Digi ConnectCore family of system-on-module solutions as it became available. We are pleased to announce that Digi was the first company to release the module to the developer community. “This expands the currently available ConnectCore MP1 family and adds higher performance options,” said Stephen Henry, general manager of STMicroelectronics’ general purpose microprocessor business.

“The launch of Digi ConnectCore MP25 represents a milestone moment in addressing the evolving needs of industries around the world. This technology exemplifies our commitment to providing solutions that simplify application development and increase operational efficiency and customer satisfaction customer in a constantly changing environment.” said Andreas, Senior Product Manager at Digi International, and Burgant.

Featuring an innovative architecture, Digi ConnectCore MP25 features two Cortex-A35 cores operating at 1.5 GHz, as well as one Cortex-M33 and one Cortex-M0+ core. Powered by an AI/ML neural processing unit (NPU) and image signal processor (ISP) providing 1.35TOPS, SOM delivers accelerated machine learning capabilities for advanced applications. Expand your possibilities with comprehensive connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 5 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless technology, plus seamless cellular integration. Digi SMTplus’s ultra-compact form factor (30 x 30 mm) and industrial temperature range (-40 to +85°C) ensure reliability even in harsh environments, making it ideal for a variety of IoT applications.

“As the IoT landscape continues to evolve, Digi remains committed to providing solutions that not only meet the demands of today, but also anticipate the needs of tomorrow. , provides device developers with edge intelligence, security features and other future-ready capabilities they experience the tools and technologies they need to deliver exceptional value to their customers,” said Digi’s Bergant.

Built for the most demanding applications, Digi ConnectCore MP25 incorporates a 10+ year durability program to ensure sustained performance and reliability throughout the product’s extended lifecycle. Furthermore, its versatility and adaptability are underlined by the implementation of Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) and support for PCIe Gen2, USB 3.0 and up to 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports, complemented by three CAN-FD interfaces. Backed by a 3-year warranty and global technical support, this SOM not only exceeds expectations but also sets a new standard of innovation and reliability in the IoT space.
