Introducing the Fujifilm X100VI: A Comprehensive Review

Fujifilm X100VI

FUJIFILM X-Summit finally returned to its home venue again. During the event, Fuji President and CEO Goto Teiichi officially introduced the FUJIFILM X100VI digital camera to everyone. In recent years, X series cameras have been very popular among people with photography tastes. As the latest model of the X100 series, the X100VI focuses on using the latest sensor elements and processors. The camera is also the first X100 series digital camera equipped with body anti-shock function.

The X100VI uses a 40.2-megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 AD sensor this time, equipped with a predictive autofocus algorithm. At the same time, together with X-Processor 5 image processor, it can use deep learning artificial intelligence technology to detect animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, planes, trains, insects and drones in the scene, and shoot continuously moving . can concentrate reliably.

The X100VI provides 5-axis body shock protection, up to level 6.0. This is the first in the X100 series. Although it has increased in weight (including the battery and memory card, it weighs 521g, which is slightly heavier than the previous generation at 43g), it is still a handheld. I didn’t notice much of difference in mobility. In terms of viewing, the EVF (electronic viewfinder) has an OLED panel with approximately 3.69 million dots, which improves the observation effect. The OVF (optical viewfinder) displays a small EVF (EVF on OVF), which expands the focus area, improving the function of the window.

The X100VI has also been improved in terms of sensitivity.ISO 125 was expanded from the previous generation X100V to the native standard output. In addition, when paired with the F2.0 23mm lens, it can use the high resolution of the updated sensor to provide clearer high-resolution images, making it a powerful tool for capturing photos on the street.

X100VI has 20 analog film modes, including the new REALA ACE mode. This mode faithfully reproduces high contrast colors and tones, making it suitable for a variety of subjects and scenes.

In terms of filming, the X1000VI provides the 6.2K/30p video shooting function for the first time, and also supports the focus tracking function during filming to ensure that the subject is clear.

Nowadays, cameras have wireless transmission functions. X100VI supports Frame.io’s camera-to-cloud transmission function. No additional accessories are required. As long as you connect to an effective Internet connection and log in to Frame.io, you can automatically transfer photos and videos after shooting. Upload to the cloud to speed up your workflow.

Inherit classic design + compact body

The X100 series can be seen as a combination of trend and craftsmanship. In terms of design, the upper and lower surfaces of the fuselage are made of aluminum to form sharp edges. At the same time, the surface is sandblasted and anodized aluminum, showing a combination of traditional appearance and modern technology .

The configuration of the X100VI has the same dial and button positions as the previous generation. Shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation and shutter buttons are all arranged on the top right side of the machine, while the Fujifilm X100 logo is on the top left machine side.

X100VI will be released globally on February 28, and will also be launched in Hong Kong at the same time. The official recommended retail price is HK$12,900, and it is available in silver and black.

Additionally, as this year marks Fujifilm’s 90th anniversary, the X100VI will also be launched in a limited edition, with 1,934 units distributed worldwide. Each unit has an independent serial number and comes with a special edition camera box and strap. The camera will also be engraved with the Fujifilm logo when it was founded in 1934, which I think will attract collectors of camera enthusiasts. It will cost US$1,999 and will be launched in March.
