Panerai, partner of the “Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Sailing Team” which aims for the “America’s Cup” sailing competition, has created the “Luna Rossa Submarine” inspired by technological innovation and the indomitable spirit of the announced competitive world. Its worldwide launch is expected from June 2024 in preparation for the America’s Cup final.

Scheduled to launch during Milan Design Week 2024, the watch features a 42mm diameter stainless steel case with a unidirectional rotating bezel and a particularly scratch-resistant matte black ceramic disc. The sturdiness of the bezel against shocks and accidental contacts matches the steel case, making the watch more durable. The watch is water resistant up to 30 bar, meeting Panerai’s rigorous testing standards at pressures up to 25% higher than the declared waterproof value.
The dial is a grained matte white dial that has been first pressed to create a grainy effect on the surface and then finished with white lacquer paint. A date window at 3 o’clock and a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock are complemented by design elements such as the Luna Rossa logo and luminous dot and bar hour markers. Finished with a sophisticated face.
The hands, including the small red seconds hand inspired by Luna Rossa’s training boats, are also coated with Super-LumiNova for improved readability in all conditions.
The movement equipped is the automatic “P.900” known for its high reliability. At 28mm in diameter and 4.2mm thick, it is one of the thinnest Panerai automatic calibres, but it is surprisingly streamlined and has a three-day power reserve.
Two belts are included: a dual-material belt with striking red accents in a shade of gray reminiscent of Luna Rossa boats, and a replacement black rubber belt. It has a system that allows you to quickly attach and detach the belt using the included tool, so you can enjoy changing it according to your purpose and mood. The price is expected to be 1,551,000 yen.
