Introducing the R3 Reason: Repete’s Stunning Steel Bike with Hidden Features

Elegant and Striking: Repete Unveils the Stunning R3 Reason Steel Bike

October 21, 2023

Prague-based bike brand, Repete, has recently introduced the R3 Reason, a remarkable steel bike that boasts an extraordinary level of beauty and elegance. At first glance, it is almost impossible to believe that this sleek and integrated design is crafted from steel, making it a true marvel of modern engineering.

The R3 Reason is described on the official website as the epitome of evolution in steel road bikes. The frame itself is meticulously welded and brazed using lightweight double-butted Columbus Spirit HSS steel tubing. This choice of material not only enhances its overall strength but also gives it a remarkable level of rigidity.

One of the notable features of the R3 Reason is its fully integrated and concealed electrical components. The cables are seamlessly integrated into the frame, rendering them completely invisible to the naked eye. Even the post clamp is cleverly concealed, adding to the overall clean and minimalistic aesthetic.

In terms of functionality, Repete has gone above and beyond to ensure compatibility and ease of use. The R3 Reason features a removable CNC machined direct-fit front derailleur clamp, which makes setup options, including 1x, 2x, and Di2, easier than ever before. Additionally, the water bottle bolt is discreetly designed to blend seamlessly into the tube, showcasing Repete’s attention to detail.

A standout element of the R3 Reason is the unique multi-curved shape achieved by welding a stainless steel cup for the headset’s upper bearing directly to the top of the tapered Columbus head tube. Repete acknowledges the effort involved in machining a head tube of this caliber, but the result is undeniably worth it.

Despite being a steel bike, the R3 Reason embraces modern advancements, replacing the traditional seat clamp with a hidden seat clamp shape. This not only enhances its sleek appearance but also ensures optimal functionality.

Furthermore, the R3 Reason offers impressive tire clearance of up to 35mm, making it suitable for tackling rough road surfaces with ease.

Repete, a bike brand based in Prague, Czech Republic, has announced the R3 Reason, which is so beautiful it’s hard to believe it’s a steel bike.

At first glance, the bike is so integrated and clean you’d think it was a modern carbon bike. The official website describes it as the pinnacle of evolution in steel road bikes.

R3 Reason

This is the process of making the Repeat frame.

The frame is welded and brazed from Columbus Spirit HSS lightweight double butted steel tubing.

Compatible components are electrical only. Cables are fully integrated and completely invisible. The post clamp is also hidden.

A removable CNC machined direct fit front derailleur clamp makes 1x, 2x and Di2 setup easier than ever.

The direct attachment of the water bottle bolt is also very thin, so it blends into the tube.

Repetition welds a stainless steel cup for the headset’s upper bearing directly to the top of the tapered Columbus head tube, creating a multi-curved shape.

Machining a head tube like this takes a lot of work, but Repete assures us it’s worth the effort.

Although it is a steel bike, it has a modern hidden seat clamp shape instead of a seat clamp.

The tire clearance is also wide at 35mm, making it suitable for rough road surfaces.
