JAKARTA (AP) — Indonesia’s Halal Product Guarantee organizing Agency (BPJPH) and teh Food‌ and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) announced Tuesday the‍ revelation ​of pork DNA in nine processed food products.⁣ Surprisingly, most of these items carried halal certifications.

Following laboratory tests conducted by BPOM and BPJPH confirming the presence ​of porcine elements,⁣ authorities have mandated that producers and distributors promptly remove​ the nine affected products‍ from the market. furthermore, their distribution permits and halal certifications are being ​revoked.

“These nine products are being ⁢withdrawn from circulation, ​and ⁢their distribution permits have been suspended pending packaging revisions that accurately reflect their ingredients,” Hasan⁤ stated.

Halal Certification Under Scrutiny

The discovery raises concerns‌ about the integrity of the halal certification process‌ in Indonesia. The BPJPH has summoned the producers⁣ and distributors of the implicated products.

Hasan explained that the findings stemmed from random sample testing by BPOM,which BPJPH subsequently verified.
