IPhone 18: Leaked Hints at Brighter Display

IPhone 18: Leaked Hints at Brighter Display

January 22, 2026 Lisa Park - Tech Editor Tech

The iPhone 18 is expected to launch in early 2027 adn will likely feature a display similar to the iPhone 17.

New information regarding the screen of Apple’s upcoming iPhone has been revealed by leaker Instant Digital, via a post on Weibo.

According to the post, display panel manufacturer BOE may struggle to meet the production demands for OLED screens for the iPhone 18, due to the high brightness requirements for iPhone devices.

This likely means the new iPhone will have a brighter screen than the iPhone 17, which has a typical maximum brightness of 1000 nits, 1,600 nits when viewing HDR content, and a peak brightness of 3000 nits.

Recent leaks also suggest the iPhone 18 will feature a 6.27-inch LTPO OLED display wiht a 120Hz refresh rate, and will continue to include the Dynamic Island feature.

Given Apple is expected to delay the launch of the new model – not arriving until September 2026 at the earliest – it’s probable it will launch in early 2027 alongside a more affordable iPhone 18e model.

We can expect to learn more about the iPhone 18, either officially or through further leaks, in the coming months.
