IPL 2021 MI vs RR | Mumbai retain play-off hopes; A crushing victory over Rajasthan

Sharjah: Mumbai Indians maintained their play-off hopes by beating Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets in the crucial match of the IPL. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Rajasthan chased down the target of 91 by losing just two wickets in 8.2 overs.

Ishant Kishan, who was unbeaten on 50 off 25 balls, including three sixes and five fours, led Mumbai to an easy victory. Rajasthan’s play-off hopes came to an end with the defeat. With the win, Mumbai jumped to fifth position with 12 points. But Mumbai will have to wait until the final to see if they can make the play-offs.

Mumbai lost only Rohit Sharma (22 off 13 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (13 off eight balls). Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten on five. The Rajasthan Royals, who had earlier batted poorly in the IPL, were all out for 90 in 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets.

This is the lowest score in Sharjah this season. Evin Lewis was Rajasthan’s top scorer with 24 runs. Five batsmen were out for two. Nathan Coulter took four wickets and James Neesham took three wickets. Coulter Nile took four wickets for just 14 runs in four overs. Bumra took two wickets.

Evin Lewis and the successful Jaiswal gave Rajasthan a good start. But in the fourth over, Jaiswal was dismissed and Rajasthan started collapsing. Jaiswal, who scored 12 (9), was bowled by Nathan Coulter Nile. Evin Lewis, who later scored 24 (19), was caught by Bumra in front of the wicket.

Captain Sanju Samson was also disappointed this time. Sanju, who scored just three runs, was dismissed by James Neesham. The next was the turn of Shivam Dubey, the winner of last match.
