Though Chennai batted first, Faf Duplessis’ struggle helped Chennai to a better score. He scored 76 off 55 balls. For Punjab, Arshadeep Singh and Chris Jordan took two wickets each.

In the fifth ball of the fourth over, Arshadeep Singh started the chase by dismissing Rituraj Gaekwad in the fifth ball. Moin Ali (0), Robin Uthappa (2) and Ambati Rayudu (4) came back with two wickets apiece. Skipper Dhoni was out for 12 not out. The wicket continued to fall but Duplessis held on.

Duplessis rescued Ravindra Jadeja, who finished seventh. He was dismissed for 128 after being bowled out for 61-5. He hit eight fours and two sixes in his 76-run innings. Jadeja’s support for Duplessis with 15 off 17 balls was also crucial.
