The link between the government of Nicolas Maduro and the Iranian regime extends beyond oil exchange through ghost ships. Research published by Infobae reveals that Iran maintains an operational structure of the Quds Force, the external arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard responsible for intelligence, asymmetric warfare, and covert operations, providing direct support to Chavismo during a critical period.
Infobae has documented the formation of this Iranian paramilitary structure within Venezuela, organized as a hierarchical pyramid. At the head of the Quds Force in Venezuela is reportedly Ahmad Asadzadeh Goljahi, an officer managing Iranian operations in the country and directing the Department 11000, a subunit with a history linked to international terrorist plots.
This department is globally led by Sardar Ammar, designated by Israel as responsible for terrorist plans in Australia, Greece, and Germany. In November, Mexican authorities thwarted an assassination attempt against the Israeli ambassador to Mexico, Einat Kranz Neiger, attributed to this same division. The operation was allegedly orchestrated by Hasan Izadi, another Iranian agent active in Latin America.
A Double Life
asadzadeh is also reportedly linked to Department 840,considered the operations centre responsible for extraterritorial murders. One year after the death of Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani in January 2021, Asadzadeh was allegedly tasked with recruiting agents to avenge his execution, with instructions to capture, interrogate, torture, and kill those responsible for the 2020 US attack on Baghdad.
According to Infobae, the Iranian operative maintains a double life. In addition to his role in the Quds Force, he is listed as the executive director of the Iran-Latin America Friendship Association, an association identified as a front for Iranian infiltration in the region. He gave an interview to the Iranian news agency IRNA in April of this year.
