A Diverse Tracklist Featuring Unexpected Covers
Making good Time was recorded earlier this year in North Carolina, with production by Brad Cook and the involvement of a talented house band. The album boasts an eclectic mix of covers, venturing into the discographies of iconic artists such as U2, boygenius, Foreigner, and Roxy Music.
Bridwell shared his thought process behind selecting the songs for the album, particularly highlighting his choice to cover Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther.” He explained in a press release, “I chose to focus on ‘Luther’ after kinda hitting a wall wondering which songs would be best to contribute. After much hand-wringing, it hit me, ‘Why not just do my favourite song?’ I’d been playing the then-newly released GNX album on repeat and that song in particular with my girls to the point of exhaustion.” This personal connection to the track undoubtedly adds a layer of authenticity to their rendition.
