Kozhikode: Health Minister Veena George said that tests have been started to find the source of the third outbreak of the Nipah virus. The goat in the house of the dead child had fallen ill two and a half months ago. The minister said that it was also under scrutiny. The monoclonal antibody will be imported from Australia for immunization. The minister said after the review meeting that as part of the source check, those who visited the child’s home and recent deaths near the house would be examined.

The progress of the disease is reported to the media every day at 4 p.m. The 20 people on the high-risk list will be transferred to the medical college before 4pm today. So far 188 people have been identified in the contact list, including 100 health workers from a medical college and 36 health workers from a private hospital. Two of these health workers had symptoms. A meeting of private hospital representatives has been called today at 3 p.m.

The minister said the dead child was shifted from a medical college to a private hospital due to lack of ventilator. According to the health department, the relatives decided to change the child. The minister said that the preventive measures were launched yesterday after the outbreak was confirmed. There are 188 people on the contact list so far. There are nine people on the contact list at the clinic where the first fever went. Contact was also found in private hospitals and medical college hospitals. There are 20 people on the high risk contact list. Two of them have symptoms. Both are health workers. One works in a medical college hospital and the other in a private hospital.

All 20 people in high-risk contact will be transferred to the medical college soon. They will be brought here by 4 pm today. A week of extreme caution is required. For this, the three-kilometer limit for reporting the virus will be closed. The National Institute of Virology team has been sent to Kozhikode. The virology lab will be set up in Kozhikode. Secrecy test will be prepared at Kozhikode Medical College. The setup will be completed tomorrow evening. The minister said essential medicines were in stock.
