Jrue Holiday’s Chances of Entering the Hall of Fame

Jrue Holiday is set to enter his 16th career season in the 2024-25 season. With a career average of 16.1 points, 6.4 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game, he has established himself as a talented player in the league. A six-time Defensive Team of the Year and two-time medalist, including an Olympic gold medal, Holiday has also won NBA championship trophies with two different teams.

Recently, ESPN posted a picture on its official Instagram page, discussing the chances of a player being elected to the Hall of Fame based on the probability of Reference Basketball. According to the calculation, Jrue Holiday has a 1.67% chance of entering the NBA Hall of Fame.

The Basketball Reference formula is based on key variables, including the height of the player, the number of NBA championships, individual NBA data rankings, NBA win shares, and the number of All-Star Game picks. These variables are combined into a formula to get a numerical value.

According to Basketball Reference, Holiday ranks just 36th among active players, with players like Isaiah Thomas, Domantas Sabonis, DeAndre Jordan, and Bradley Beal ahead of him. However, Holiday’s shortcoming in this calculation formula is mainly due to his performance in individual data positions and annual lines not being very impressive.

Despite this, Holiday is a rare player who has won two championship rings with two different teams and played a key role in both. He can be compared to Hall of Famer Manu Ginobili, who also played a similar role on a championship team. Holiday’s average points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks per game in the regular season and playoffs were better than Ginobili’s.

Jrue Holiday’s chances of eventually entering the Hall of Fame are much higher than ESPN’s data suggests. His positive impact on multiple championship teams, being one of the best perimeter defenders in NBA history, and playing for a championship-contending team will only continue to enhance his legendary status and further confirm his credentials for the Hall of Fame.
