“Promises Broken, Trust Lost” – Isak’s Direct Accusations
In a candid and pointed message, Isak stated he had remained silent while speculation swirled, but felt compelled to address the situation directly. He alleges that promises were made to him, and that the club was aware of his intentions for some time. “Acting as if these issues were recent is misleading,” he wrote. “A relationship cannot continue when promises are not fulfilled and confidence is lost.” Isak, who has scored an impressive 25 goals in 42 games for Newcastle, clearly feels a breach of trust.
Newcastle United’s Response: A Contractual stance
Newcastle United swiftly responded to Isak’s public statement, asserting that the player remains under contract with the club. The Magpies emphasized that no club official has authorized his departure this summer. In a statement published on their official website, the club acknowledged Isak’s aspirations but maintained that the conditions for a transfer have not materialized.
“We want to keep our best players, but we understand that athletes have their claims and we are open to hear them,” the club stated. ”As it was explained to Alex and his representatives, we always take into account the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions, and we made it clear that the conditions for a sale this summer did not materialize. We do not foresee these conditions being met.”
