Isolated rain likely over Oman

Muscat: Due to the formation of a tropical depression in the Arabian Sea, the Oman Meteorological Center expects isolated rain in the governorates of South Al Sharqiya, Al Wusta and Dhofar on Saturday night and the next two days (Sunday and Monday).

The Civil Aviation Authority has issued a warning to fishermen to avoid going to sea due to bad weather.

Oman’s National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center has indicated that the depression will be centered over the central Arabian Sea at longitude 61.8°E and latitude 13.9°N and will move from west to southwest towards Gulf of Aden. Surface winds are estimated to be 17 to 27 knots (KNOT) in the centre. It is likely to become a low pressure during the next 24 hours without directly affecting Oman, the Oman Met statement said.
