Local Israeli media reported that although the issue of ending the war against Hamas is in limbo, the Israeli army has begun evacuating civilians from Rafah, the southernmost city in the Gaza Strip, which is considered the last stronghold of Hamas. It is interpreted as a signal for an Israeli military attack on Rafah.

According to local media, including daily Haaretz, on the 6th (local time), the Israeli military began evacuating civilians from Rafah on this day. Aid organizations operating in the Gaza Strip are said to have received information about the start of the Israeli army’s evacuation of civilians.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that Hamas would soon begin military operations in Rafah, saying that it appeared that Hamas did not want a ceasefire after the group fired about 10 rockets into southern Israel near Rafah the day before , causing casualties.

Currently, approximately 1.4 million refugees are staying in Rafah.

Accordingly, the international community, including the United States, has dissuaded the Israeli military from attacking Rafah, citing concerns about large-scale casualties if a full-scale ground war breaks out in Rafah. However, Israel has stated that an attack on Rafah is inevitable to achieve war goals such as eliminating Hamas, rescuing hostages, and resolving security threats from the Gaza Strip, and that it will launch an operation after the evacuation of civilians.
