However, local daily Israel Times reported that Israeli Army Chief of Staff Herzy Halevi approved the Southern Command’s battle plan for that day.
The Israeli military said, “With the presence of Major General Yaron Pilkelman, Commander of the Southern Forces, a plan to continue the war was approved along with an assessment of the war situation.”
Israel believes that the Hamas leadership and remnants are hiding here on the border with Egypt, and that the operation to enter Rafah is essential to ending the war.

According to a report by the US internet media Axios the day before, the US plans to impose sanctions on the ‘Netza Yehuda Battalion’ of the Israeli army within a few days on charges of human rights violations in the occupied West Bank .
This unit, made up of ultra-Orthodox Jews, is located on the occupied West Bank of the Jordan River.
US officials explained that sanctions against this unit were based on events that occurred before Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel on October 7 last year.
The Israeli military said it was not fully aware of the status of the US sanctions campaign.
