It rained 40mm per hour, but it was not enough for the drought to end.

It rained a lot all over the country, but it was not enough to make up for the long drought.

The water level in the Soyanggang Dam, which fell due to the drought, has risen slightly, but it is still more than 10 meters lower than last year.

Reporter Lee Seung-yeon covered the scene.

A road in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, where 40mm of rain fell per hour.

Dirt swept down from a nearby apartment construction site hit the road.

Muddy water also flooded into the nearby agricultural and industrial complexes and flooded the offices of tenant companies.

“We put things on the desk, put them on a higher floor. We kept the water on staff and the two of us scooped it out.”

Heavy rains that fell overnight resulted in 40 reports of rain damage from various parts of Gangwon-do.

Could the drought in the upper Soyang River have been resolved as much rain has fallen?

I went back to the top stream of the Soyanggang Dam, where the water level had dropped to the point where it was exposed on foot three days ago due to a drought.

As it rained heavily overnight, the water stream upstream of Soyanggang got a little stronger.

However, as you can see, it was not enough to fill the dried up Soyang River.

The piers of the 38th Bridge were still exposed, and only the dry soil floor was slightly wet.

The downstream area has also increased water, but not enough for fishermen to float their boats and catch fish.

“I don’t even have a jaw. It’s a long way to get water with (yesterday’s rain).”

The amount of rain that fell overnight upstream of Soyanggang Dam was 100mm.

The water level in the dam has risen by about 1m from the previous day, but it is still more than 10m lower than at the same time last year.

“If the additional inflow (from yesterday’s rain) is completed, it is expected that the water level or water storage volume of the dam will rise further.”

However, the Korea Water Resources Corporation explained that one more heavy rain would be needed to resolve the drought stage of the Soyanggang Dam, which is currently at the level of ‘interest’.
