While both performers have teased a collision in recent weeks, the bout was notably absent from the official lineup announcement made on April 7, 2026, during ESPN’s Get Up.

The decision to include the match on the card is currently dependent on the medical status of WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, WWE is waiting to determine if Nikki Bella is medically cleared to compete in a scheduled Women’s Tag Team Championship match alongside her sister, Brie Bella.

The Medical Contingency for WrestleMania 42

The uncertainty stems from an ankle injury Nikki Bella sustained during an episode of SmackDown in late March 2026. Following the injury, the 42-year-old was seen wearing a walking boot. Although Bella indicated she expected to return within a week, WWE has not yet provided an on-screen medical update confirming she has been cleared for ring action.

This medical status has created a direct dependency between two different matches on the WrestleMania 42 card. If Nikki Bella is not cleared to compete, Asuka and Kairi Sane, known as the Kabuki Warriors, are expected to take the place of the Bella Twins in the Women’s Tag Team Championship match.

If Asuka is moved into the tag team match, she will be unavailable for a singles match against IYO SKY. Conversely, if Nikki Bella is cleared to compete, WWE plans to officially add the IYO SKY vs. Asuka bout to the event lineup.
