Singer-songwriter James Morrison has made his first public appearance sence the death of his partner, Gill Catchpole, in January. Morrison, known for hits like “Broken Strings,” performed at the In It Together Festival in Wales this week, marking a courageous comeback after a tough period of grieving.
Catchpole, 45, was found dead at their Gloucestershire home. An inquest later concluded she had taken her own life. The couple, together as 2006, have two daughters, Elsie and Ada Rose. Though engaged, they never officially married and had reportedly split a year before Catchpole’s death.

Morrison shared photos from the festival on Instagram, showing him smiling and playing guitar to an enthusiastic crowd. “It was an absolute pleasure to perform at @inittogetherfestival last night,” Morrison wrote. “Thank you to the splendid crowd who welcomed me back.” He also hinted at future projects, urging fans to turn on notifications for updates.
Fans flooded the comments with supportive messages. one fan wrote, “This is the best thing I’ve seen/read on social media all year. Love you lad! And the world needs you rocking.” Another added, “Can’t wait to see you on tour again.”


Following Catchpole’s death, Morrison had canceled all work commitments to grieve and care for his children. He had previously dedicated his 2019 album,”You’re Stronger Than You Know,” to Catchpole,inspired by her strength during their youngest daughter’s premature birth.
Morrison has faced other personal losses, including the deaths of his father, brother, and nephew within a short period.


“Without her, I don’t think I’d be here. I don’t think I’d be the person I am. I don’t think I’d be as grounded if I hadn’t met her when I was young,” Morrison said of Catchpole to OK! Magazine.
