Janmabhumi | Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Papua New Guinea; The Indo-Pacific Islands Cooperation Forum will participate in the summit

Hiroshima: Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Papua New Guinea on the second leg of his three-nation tour of Japan, Papua New Guinea and Australia. Modi left for Papua New Guinea after the G07 summit in Hiroshima.

Narendra Modi will attend the 3rd Forum of India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) summit tomorrow. Modi will co-host the summit with Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape. The India-Pacific Islands Cooperation Forum was launched in November 2014 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Fiji.

The Indo-Pacific Islands Cooperation Forum comprises India and fourteen Pacific Island countries. These are Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Samoa, Vanuatu, Niue, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Cook Islands, Palau, Nauru and Solomon Islands.

Modi will meet Governor General Bob Dade and Prime Minister James Marape. This is the first time that an Indian Prime Minister has visited Papua New Guinea.
