Kitakyushu, Japan – A quiet saturday evening turned into a scene of horror at a Kitakyushu City fast-food restaurant when two teenagers were stabbed, leaving one dead and the other critically injured. Police have arrested a 43-year-old local man in connection with the attack.
The victims, both 15-year-old third-year junior high school students, were on thier way home from cram school when the attack occurred around 8:30 p.m. Tragically, Nakashima Saaya succumbed to her injuries, while the boy remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Police announced the arrest of Hirabaru Masanori on Thursday,charging him with attempted murder of the surviving victim. Hirabaru has reportedly admitted to the allegation.
Surveillance camera footage played a crucial role in identifying and apprehending the suspect. Footage from the restaurant and nearby dashcams allegedly show Hirabaru driving to and from the scene.

The surviving boy told police he did not recognize his attacker.
Neighbors of Hirabaru described him as a well-built man who often played loud music at his home. One woman reported hearing him shouting through what appeared to be a loudspeaker on multiple occasions.
