The maximum magnitude of 6.6 occurred in Ehime and Kochi prefectures. Affected by the earthquake, a total of 8 people were injured as of this morning, and disasters such as landslides and water pipe ruptures were reported in some areas.

The eight injured were located in Ehime, Oita and Kochi prefectures.

Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) reported that the eight injured included five in Ehime Prefecture, two in Oita Prefecture, and one in Kochi Prefecture.

According to statistics from three municipal governments in Ehime Prefecture, a total of five people were slightly injured. A woman in Touwen City fell down the stairs of her home and was sent to the hospital. A man in Uwajima City injured his left hand when he tried to leave his house. Three women in Songshan City fell and were sent to hospital.

The Oita Prefectural Government stated that one person each in Kutsumi City and Oita City fell and was slightly injured due to the shaking of the earthquake; a man in Sumo City, Kochi Prefecture, said he was hyperventilating and was sent to hospital for treatment.

In addition, disasters such as landslides and water pipe ruptures have been reported in many places in the Shikoku region.

Disaster in Kochi Prefecture

As of 11 a.m. this morning, roof tiles had fallen off, window glass was broken, and house pillars were cracked in Sumao City, Kochi Prefecture. Water supply was temporarily cut off in some areas. There were also 4 street lamps toppled and wires down.

In addition, some roads in the Matsutani area of ​​Yusuhara Town, Takaoka County, Kochi Prefecture, temporarily blocked the access roads of five households due to falling rocks and fallen trees caused by the earthquake. Fortunately, the obstacles have been cleared this morning.

The Kochi Prefectural Government stated that some sections of Prefectural Road No. 26 in Yusuhara Town encountered falling rocks and fallen trees, so traffic was temporarily suspended. The goal is to clear obstacles and restore traffic today.

Disaster in Ehime Prefecture

As of 8 a.m. today, National Route 197 in Humikawa Town, Osu City, Ehime Prefecture, one prefectural road in Uwajima City, and two prefectural roads in Matsuno Town, a total of three places were affected by rockfalls and were temporarily suspended.

Eleven households in Humikawa Town, Osu City, had water outages due to broken water pipes. In Uwajima City, Osu City, Ainan Town and other places, authorities also received reports of damaged water pipes and leaks.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 occurred in Bungo Suido, Japan (located between Ehime Prefecture in Shikoku and Oita Prefecture in Kyushu, connecting the Pacific Ocean and the Seto Inland Sea) at around 11:14 last night (10:14 pm Taiwan time), with a depth of 39 kilometer.
