LAKE BUTLER, Fla. (AP) — Jay North, the actor who charmed audiences as the mischievous Dennis the Menace in the eponymous television series, has died at his home in Lake Butler, Florida. He was 73.
North, who captured hearts for his portrayal of the tow-headed dennis from 1959 to 1963, passed away Sunday after a long battle with cancer, according to a Facebook post by Laurie Jacobson, a friend and producer.
Jacobson remembered North fondly,stating,”He had a heart as big as a mountain and loved his friends with all his heart. He often called us and ended every conversation with ’I love you from my heart’. And we loved him with all my heart.” She added that he was now at peace after his suffering.
